Hotel Check-In? Forget About It!

This is a topic that excited me and scares me at the same time. Anyone that is familiar with me and my taste already knows that I love to come up with occasions to stay at a hotel. For the last few years I have been celebrating birthdays, new years, anniversaries, Valentine's Days, and whatever other days I can deem appropriate in hotel rooms. My absolute favorite family is the Starwood Hotel family. From Aloft, to the Westin, The W Hotel and Four Points, to Sheraton, I can't say that I have ever had less than exceptional service. I have always been a fan of the ambiance of these boutique hotels: They are clean, the service is awesome, as a preferred guest I feel like I matter, and most of all, Starwood hotels are modern. Starwood hotels are known for innovation. Aside from having an application that allows users to keep up with membership points and book stays are hotels and resorts worldwide, Starwood will soon be releasing and iPhone application that will allow guests to...

Trick or Treat: Rumors of Official Announcement for iPhones 5S and 5C

Any Apple fanatic has likely already heard rumors about the release of new iPhones. Though not an Apple fanatic, I do own an iPhone and have been excited to hear about an official announcement about the release of the newest series of Apple iPhones after hearing rumors of its development for several months now. Well, the time has come. Today, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 1pm EST Apple is holding an event at it's headquarters in Cupertino, California that will "brighten everyone's day".  Although it is still technically a rumor, there have been several leaks that have lead sources to believe that during this event Apple will be officially announcing the release dates for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5S is pretty much an upgrade to the iPhone 4S, but it provides some additional capability.  Sources have leaked that the iPhone 5S will look like the iPhone 5, but might be available made available in gold in addition to the traditional black and white.  It...

Pulling the Plug on Playbook

The market for mobile media devices is growing rapidly, therefore creating a lot of competition amongst big name companies.  Whether dealing with tablets, hybrid PCs, laptops, or smart phones, it is impossible to ignore the constant battles between who has the best qualities, who has the most functionality, who has the better bang for the buck, etc.  Although larger companies that own most of the market share for these types of devices, such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft, have access to funds for research development and even failure, several smaller companies may find it harder to support several successful mobile projects at a time. It is not uncommon that when people hear "Blackberry", they automatically stick up their noses; the company is seen as inferior and behind the times, and is often frowned upon for not being as quick, as innovative, and as compatible as other company's platforms.  Although they may not have been doing well in the mobile device industry ov...

Knowledge Navigator: The Future of Smartphones

As consumers, there are several things that we look for when considering the purchase of a new technical device.  Specifically, when looking to purchase a smart phone generally users prefer something that is fast and efficient, relevant, up to date, and useful. Specifications such as screen resolution, speech recognition capabilities, keyboard preference, etcetera are all based upon individual preferences, but there are usually several standard key features that smart phone users usually look for. Smart phones as we know it usually meet the same standard criteria. But, what if smart phones were no longer considered just smart, but instead were more "intelligent"? The Knowledge Navigator is a concept created by former Apple CEO John Sculley. Although the idea now seems pretty antiquated, when the idea was presented in 1987 it was an idea that seemed so far fetched, but is now practically the basis for the Apple iPhone. Sculley originally describes his concept in his...
